Twin Oaks Hollister 55+ active lifestyle community will bring residents and invited guests together on Saturday, Aug. 22, for a meaningful day of remembrance, connection and celebration. The program will begin with a Campus Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the San Benito County Alzheimer’s Association Flower Ceremony, followed by an Aloha-themed celebration marking the fourth anniversary of the community’s clubhouse, The Cannery Club.
The morning walk will offer the Twin Oaks community an opportunity to stand in support of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. During the Flower Ceremony, participants will carry flowers representing their personal connections to the disease—honoring those living with Alzheimer’s, remembering loved ones lost, and recognizing caregivers, advocates and others whose lives have been touched by it.
Following the walk, the community will gather at The Cannery Club for its fourth-anniversary Aloha Celebration. The afternoon will feature a festive luau-style grazing buffet, tropical refreshments, live Hawaiian music and a live hula performance by local group Hā‘a Hula—all set in the welcoming spirit of aloha.
“Four years ago, The Cannery Club opened its doors and quickly became the heart of the Twin Oaks community,” said Marty Miller, founder of Twin Oaks Hollister. “This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate not only the wonderful memories created here, but also the caring and connection that make Twin Oaks such a special place to call home. Beginning the day by walking together for such an important cause makes the celebration even more meaningful.”
The event reflects the active, socially connected lifestyle at the center of Twin Oaks Hollister, a gated 55+ community designed to encourage friendship, lifelong learning, wellness and engagement. Through resident clubs, fitness and enrichment classes, organized activities, special events and informal gatherings at The Cannery Club, residents have many opportunities to connect with neighbors and pursue the interests they enjoy. Twin Oaks was recently honored as one of the nation’s top three Senior Living Communities in the Gold Nugget Awards, in association with the Leading Builders of America.
But Miller notes, “Community is about more than the homes we live in. It is about showing up for one another, celebrating together and creating meaningful experiences. This day brings all of those things together.”
